Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Although the number of disc golf enthusiasts grows at an impressive rate, the ratio of women to men has been stagnant for some time.

I first remember looking at the ratio back in about 1995 and women made up 7% of the total active PDGA members. Well, I just looked on the PDGA website and amazingly enough, we still only make up 7% of the active PDGA members.

As a women in the sport, the above statistic is baffling. Why aren't more women playing? In an attempt to address this question, in 1997 the PDGA created a Women's Committee. The committee consisted of at least one female disc golfer from each PDGA region. Over the 10+ years, the committee has waxed and waned, but ultimately it has not yet helped to increase our relative numbers.

I still believe strongly in the women's committee and I am hopeful that this is still an avenue to greater visibility, enjoyment and ultimately participation.

If you have any interest in working with this committee, send me an email at . I can see that you are put in contact with the committee chair.

Back to this site, it is my hope that this section be a vehicle for communication on issues involving women in disc golf. If you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
